Amazing Road Trip Through Midwest Battlefields
Have you been to the site of the Baxter Springs Massacre, or seen Fort Scott, or the Mine Creek Battlefield, in Kansas? Have you visited the Carthage Museum, and know about the battle there; or, have you been to the Wilson Creek Battlefield, in Missouri? Or, how about the Pea Ridge Battlefield, and Fort Smith, in Arkansas? Come to our May meeting, and see photos of stops on Clark Corey's amazing Civil War battlefield car tour, along with other nice visuals, explaining the significance of a particular stop, as well as photos of the pertinent landscape. Clark will weave in a narrative about the significance of the campaigns, the battles themselves, while describing the sites, and the landscapes, shown in the photos he took at the car tour stops. You do not want to miss this very informative, and entertaining, presentation.
Mr. Clark Corey
Clark Corey was born in McKeesport, PA. He moved to Los Angeles, with his family, in 1961. That year for Christmas, he received the American Heritage Golden Book of the Civil War as a present. From that day forward he has had a keen interest in Civil War history. After graduating from U.C.L.A., Clark embarked on a travel industry career, with a tour operator and airline emphasis. During his career, there were frequent sales trips, and trade shows, to the East Coast and South, with some free weekends allowing him to visit a number of Civil War battlefields and associated sites — camera in hand. Most recently, Clark has checked off a few of his “bucket list” Civil War sites in the Western Theater, including Mine Creek, Wilson's Creek, and Pea Ridge.
